Hafiz UsamaTanveer
I use research and engineering to solve practical problems in water, health, and sustainability. My work connects evidence with real-world delivery to build products, programs, and services that improve people’s lives.

I grew up in Pakistan, where my family and many people around us could not assume that the water was safe. That experience led me to chemical engineering and eventually to co-founding PakVitae, now EveryWater.
Since then, my work has spanned water-treatment research, product development, manufacturing, field deployment, financing, and health-care delivery. These experiences taught me to evaluate performance in context, including cost, maintenance, adoption, and whether results continue after implementation.
What I bring
Water systems and field implementation
My water experience spans ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, chlorination, disinfection byproducts, PFAS, and industrial water systems. At EveryWater, I worked across membrane formulation, testing, patenting, manufacturing, user guidance, and field deployment.
Measurement, modeling, and uncertainty
At George Mason University, I developed analytical methods for measuring disinfection byproducts at concentrations near one nanogram per liter. I studied how detection limits, censored observations, and incomplete measurement can bias estimates of exposure and toxicity. I use Python, R, statistical analysis, systematic review, meta-analysis, process modeling, and mathematical models to test assumptions, quantify uncertainty, and show how analytical choices affect a conclusion.
Program design, financing, and scale
I have translated technical work into manufacturing plans, operating budgets, grant proposals, investment materials, and deployment strategies. Experience with equity investment, bank financing, grants, public-sector partners, and philanthropic support taught me how each funding mechanism changes incentives, reporting requirements, and implementation choices. I connect financing decisions to measurable outcomes, monitoring, and improvement.
Service delivery and population health
At Safe Life Home Health Care, I lead research and service-delivery improvements for a provider serving 450+ patients on an average day. I use clinical, utilization, workflow, and home-environment data to redesign care pathways, introduce care-coordination and documentation tools, and track what changes after implementation.
How I approach a problem
I begin by defining the decision and identifying the assumptions most likely to change it. I combine published research with laboratory, field, financial, and operational data, compare the model with what happens in practice, and revise the intervention when results fall short.
Science, explained visually
Some important water-science processes are difficult to understand because they happen at scales we cannot see. I use motion and interactive diagrams to break these processes into visible steps.
